 J League News:

Tussle at the top

16th Oct 2009: Just over a month ago Kaskima Antlers had a seven point advantage over their nearest rivals - Kawasaki Frontale (see article below) - but now they have well and truly hit the wall.

Five defeats in a row and only two wins in ten in all competitions has left them stuck on fifty points and trailing Shimizu S-Pulse on goal difference. Indeed so bad is their form that they are currently bottom of the J League form table!

Gamba Osaka - leaders of the form table - are tucked in just behind the Antlers on forty-nine points ahead of a stuttering Frontale by the narrowest of goal difference margins.

It all makes for an exciting climax to the season.

Can anyone stop the Antlers?

9th Sept 2009: Despite some indifferent form recently Kashima Antlers remain on course for the J League Championship.

The nearest challengers are Kawasaki Frontale who have 43 points from 24 matches while the Antlers have 50 even though they have lost their last three away games.

Could this blip in away form give the chasing pack some cause for optimism?

The 26-year-old had demanded a move from Karlsruhe in order to get more first-team opportunities before the World Cup finals in South Africa.
